MD client had pet damage casued by Abbey. by Carpet Repair Baltimore | May 9, 2012 Baltimore Carpet Repair Baltimore Carpet Cleaning Baltimore Flooring Sales Baltimore Flooring Installation Stephanie called because her cute puppy Abbey chewed at the carpet causing a fair amount damage in the middle of one of the most common areas. We see this quite a bit and with having animals myself I can empathise. Dogs digging at the carpet or even cats digging at the carpet can be a number of things here are a few suggestions: Trim off carpet “strings” dangaly thingys that will entice your dog to explore what else in under the thingy. Have blankets or a bed on the floor. Dog will tend to “nest”. Nesting is a natural instinct for dogs and is usually practiced by dogs when they are looking for a place to rest. Your dog will dig the carpet when there is no blanket or other material to make a nest. Have toys or chewing bones around. When dogs are bored the look for something to do…and they love to dig. Pent up energy. Make sure to walk and play with your dog they will love you even more for it:) Be careful not to lock your dog in the bedroom, office, bathroom, den, or any room with carpet and no exit for your dog. In the begining they may enjoy the peace and quite as we all do from time to time. But, at some point they are going to want to get the heck out and when they do their natural tendency is to dig their way out. Most of all walk your dog and play with them as much as possible….and they’ll be too tired to dig at your carpet:) Because the pet damage was in a high traffic area with the carpet fibers matted down it was more difficult.
